Fixed Assets

Depreciation that runs, posts and can be explained

Fixed Assets holds what the business owns and what it is now worth. Categories carry the depreciation policy, runs apply it on a period basis, and disposals settle the asset out of the books — each step a posting rather than a journal somebody remembered to write.

The flow

How the work runs

  1. CapitaliseThe asset enters the register under a category.
  2. DepreciateA period run charges every eligible component.
  3. PostThe charge reaches the ledger.
  4. DisposeThe asset is written out.
  5. SettleProceeds are recorded and the gain or loss falls out.

What it does

Fixed Assets capabilities

Everything below is implemented and running. Nothing here is planned.

Asset register

Capitalised assets with their components, cost and current position.

Categories carry the policy

Depreciation method and life are set on the category, so assets are consistent by construction.

Period depreciation runs

A run evaluates every component of every non-disposed asset for the period, then posts the charge. It is a period event with a result you can inspect, not a background job.

Depreciation register

What was charged, on which asset, in which period.

Disposals and settlements

Disposal removes the asset and its accumulated depreciation; settlement records what was actually received and the gain or loss that follows.

Accounting

How it reaches the ledger

Documents post through governed adapters — no export, no re-keying, and a closed accounting period refuses the posting.
